12 Years

Twelve years ago from December 6th Casey and I had our first date!  We were just spring chickens back then.  It's hard to remember a time B.C. (before Casey).  As a surprise (and believe me when I say it was a surprise) Casey brought these home for me:
And look what else we got:
Another Wood baby is on the way!  We went to the doctor on our "anniversary" and found out the new little one is due on July 19th.  We are super excited!  No sickness yet,  just a whole lot of exhaustion.  It makes me thankful that Hud is still on the two naps a day plan.  It allows for a nap for me as well.

We did some Christmas shopping and ate dinner at Genghis Grill where you get to assemble your own food.  You pick your meat, what spices go on the meat, your veggies, your sauce and your starch.  We decided that I'm the better cook... assembler?... food picker?  By we, I mean me.

Camille Deann Photography

We had some family pictures taken a couple of weeks ago for Christmas cards.  It was freezing and early in the morning but Camille did a wonderful job capturing our family with our uncooperative wild man.  Here are a couple:
We met Camille through our church and we LOVE her!  She has great style and is so creative.  You must visit her website to see some other stuff she has done.  She actually did some stuff for Jilly Moo's several months ago.  Check her out here.

The Last Day

Today was my last day at work.  Goodbye Magnolia Ridge, hello Hudson!  Casey and I have decided that it's best for our little family if I stay home full time with my little guy.  And with Hudson.  It's something we have been working toward for awhile and I really didn't think it would ever actually happen.  But here we are.  I'm so proud of Casey for pushing us to save our pennies so we could reach our goal.  Dave helped a little too.

So I should be super excited, right?  I've actually been pretty sad today though.  Non-emotional me was actually near tears when I was leaving.  I won't miss working but I will miss these girls like crazy.

The Worst Date Night Ever

We had this date planned for several weeks and I have been super pumped about it.  We where going to shop for stuff for our house at Bungalow Classic in Atlanta which was recommended by my friend.   Then we were going to get at Taqueria Del Sol and to see Inception.  We had our baby sitter, I was wearing a new shoes, we were pumped.

We hopped on I-85 and hit traffic about 5 minutes down from our house.  No big deal although we were wondering why there was traffic on a Saturday night.  Two hours of sitting in traffic later we find out there was a wreck.  The furniture store is closed, we will miss our movie time, we are ready to chew our arms off from hunger, and we have major 'tudes.

I will say that it got better for awhile.  We had the most delicious tacos ever.  We highly recommend stopping by Taqueria Del Sol.  There is a line out the door but it moves fast.  Eat some of the best $2 tacos you will ever have.
My Memphis Taco with pork and slaw...yum!

We had time to waste before the later movie time so we did a little shopping and bought a shirt for Spud.  Then onto the movie which was excellent if not a little confusing but we still loved and recommend it.  We are on our way home, I'm having one of my massive headaches and am wearing sunglasses in the dark so the lights won't make it worse.  It's closing in on 1 am, we are rushing to relieve our poor sitters when I realize I left Hud's shirt in the movie theater.  The cherry on top on the evening!  And we are done.  Good night everybody!

29 and Pool Time

30 used to be my scary age but since I had Hudson (or maybe just that I am now almost at 30) I have found that I don't really care so much.  I was all on my own this birthday.  Casey was off gallivanting at the beach with my future brother-in-law and co. for his bachelor weekend.  It was a long weekend of fishing.  Anyway, we did my birthday celebration early at my parent's house last Sunday and Casey and I went to dinner Wednesday at one of my favorite restaurants, Canoe.   Then it was time for my girl time to begin.  Thursday night we saw Sex and the City 2.  Friday Jill and I met with a photographer friend of ours to plan a future Jilly Moo's project that we are so excited about.  Stay tuned for details.

Saturday a group of us went out to celebrate my actual birthday.  My mom kept Hudson that night so I could go out child-free.  There he had his first "swim" in a kiddie pool.  I'm in trouble when it comes to the pool because he has zero fear of the water.  He splashed around and kept sticking his face under water and coming up laughing.   I'm beginning to regret not doing swimming lessons for him.
(Guess we should have turned the flash off...)

The Zoo

Casey took the day off yesterday and we headed out to Zoo Atlanta.  I thought we would try to beat the crowds, let Hud skip his morning nap and get there early.  Hudson screamed and fussed the whole way down there so I was thinking 'oh no... here we go.  I'm going to be that mom with the screaming kid' (which wouldn't be the first time).  Once we got there, there was so much for him to look at, he was great.

The giraffes were Hudson's favorites!  He died laughing when he saw them.  Then he wanted to climb all over the statue of the giraffe.

Casey and I liked the gorillas the best.  They were HUGE and came up so close.  They just seemed so human.  This big guy walked up, plopped down, and sat there looking pouty the whole time.  At one point he crossed his arms and sat staring at everyone.  I could have stayed there and watched them for a long time.  I couldn't get over how big they were!  This picture doesn't do them justice.  They were seriously ginormous.

Looking at the orangutans.

Needless to say, not my favorite exhibit.

The petting zoo was the last thing we did and was Hudson's definite favorite thing.  This pig/hog/whatever jumped up whenever Hudson went to pet him.  Scared the bejesus out of me.  Hudson loves laying on top of Chloe and loving her so of course he loved all of these animals.  We had to try and keep him from laying his head on them.  The sheep's ear kept twitching and Hudson would crack up at it.

Hudson was exhausted and was konked out by the time we got on the interstate.

An Uncool Mom

A what age do you think your child decides that you aren't cool?  I think mine might be starting early.  Yesterday I was being a goof, dancing and singing to him.  He stared at me with his mouth hanging open, sighed, and looked away.  I think I embarrassed him.  I swear he would have rolled his eyes if he knew how to.

Ok, maybe I am uncool.  Casey made me do this.  We will say that Casey is the one that's uncool.  But we all knew that anyway.

"Handy Man"

Oh yeah.  I forgot to talk about by bad week last week.  Particularly Monday.  Let me start by saying that a couple of weeks ago we heard a noise coming from our hallway downstairs that Casey thought sounded like water dripping.  We never could figure out where it was coming from so we forgot about it.  Cut to the next Monday and Casey notices a huge seam running down our stairway wall and wood bubbled up at the foot of the stairs.  Yes...we had a leak.  And guess what it was caused by?  My handy man!  Casey put this trim up about a year ago and turns out he hit a pipe.

So now we have this huge hole in our wall.  Handy man?  I don't think so (Just kidding honey!  Don't stop with your projects!).
Oh wait.  It gets better.  On my way down the stairs to look at the damage, I slipped and fell while holding Hud.  Hud is fine.  I have a ginormous bruise on my arm and had back problems for about a week.  Classic klutz.  I'm hoping this week is better...
