Egg Hunt #3

Hudson has been hitting the egg hunt circuit pretty hard this year.  Round three was at Casey's grandfather's house this morning.  Hudson was up against his cousins.
Finley was mostly a sourpuss.
But she did find an egg she liked.
Hudson did a little egg dying with his Nana.
Then he Tyler and Ayden raced one of Casey's Paw's roosters.
Don't ask.

Preschool Egg Hunt

Hudson has evolved into a champion egg hunter.  He was off like lightning at his first egg hunt of the year at his preschool.  I had to drag him away at the end because he was getting more eggs than he was supposed to.
After the hunt we had a picnic in Hudson's classroom.  Casey was able to stop by and eat with us.  Finley was a doll the whole time, flirting with everyone and kicking back in her carseat.

The Circus

I had typed this post up two weeks ago and posted it... or at least I thought I did.  Can I pull the Mommy Brain card?  Anyway, here we go:

Casey, Hudson and myself were sick earlier last week but we recovered just in time to ventures out to the circus.  I have to admit I thought Hudson's reaction would be more excitement.  Maybe he was overwhelmed.
We got there an hour before it started so we could go down and see the animals and performers up close.  It was super crowded and we couldn't see very well.  Casey put Hudson up on his shoulders but let's be honest, it didn't help much.
Hudson started laying over on us while sucking his thumb so we ended up leaving a little early.

Julie's Wedding

I hijacked some pictures of Julie's wedding from her Facebook page.  Remember her wedding?  Remember my son the over-enthused ring bearer?  Check out the cuteness:
Can you stand it?  Most people think he looks like me.  I'm just sayin'.

Baby J

My oldest friend (circa 1987) Amy is having a baby in December!!!  That one gets 3 exclamation points because I'm so excited for her.
I thought about embarrassing both of us by breaking out one of the old pictures.  I just couldn't do it.  Once I saw me in braces and back before I discovered the wonders of tweezers and straighteners, I decided that the general public doesn't need to be tortured by such things.

Casey and I caught the bouquet and garter at her and her husband's (strangely also named Casey) wedding and got engaged less than 2 months later.  Is it weird that I already have their baby girl and Hudson married off in my mind?
Two Saturdays ago was her baby shower.  They are keeping the name a secret which I kinda love but am a lot frustrated with.
I got to catch up with some old friends from high school.  Love when I get a chance to do that.  Jess moved herself off to Nashville after college so we don't often get to see her.  I miss getting to hang out with these girls but love that we can still get together every once in awhile amid the chaos of babies, jobs, and general busy-ness.

Balloon Festival

Saturday a neighborhood a little north of us was having a Fall Hot Air Balloon Festival.  We threw the kid in the car and headed up for some fun.  As we waited 20 minutes to park we were thinking that it had better be worth the wait.  It was super crowded but enjoyable and something different to get out and do.  Hudson was entranced by the balloons and we had pizza so this was pretty close to heaven for him.  If only there would have been more trash cans he would have been all set.
We got there in time to see them be blown up from flat...
to floating!

The Graduate

Yesterday my baby sis, Kayla, graduated from college.  She won an award for one of the best in her class for her clinical work.  She even has a job lined up already.  We are all so happy and proud of her.
Hudson had some play time with Kayla's nephews, "Ashy," who is only three days older than Hud, and "Shep".  We had dinner at my parent's after the ceremony and I looked out the window at one point and saw my dad pulling all three of the boys in a wagon.  Of course I didn't get a picture but it was so cute.  You will just have to take my word for it.
Instead you get this blurred picture.  It would have been cute but these boys move too fast for me and my little camera.

Kayla still has her big national test to concur to determine if she gets her license or not.  Be thinking and praying for her this Thursday.  I remember when I was having to go through this same type of big test to get my license and it was so nerve-racking and super hard.  I've been there and made it through and so will you Kay!  Good luck!

The Bachelorette

This weekend was dedicated to Julie, who's big day is coming up very soon.  We had her bachelorette extravaganza, including the lingerie shower, a fun dinner at Dante's, and a "dance class".  I can't bring myself to put up pictures of the dancing so let's keep the pictures focused on the shower, shall we?
Kayla and I did an Asian theme; sushi chopsticks and all.
Games were played.  Fun was had.
I'll explain the cloth over the head shots.  We had a game where everyone put this over their head and then we asked them to remove something of their choice off of their body that they didn't need.  Obviously they don't need the cloth on their head but most took off shoes, jewelry, etc before they realized this.
Don't forget the fun goodies for the bride-to-be.
