Christmas Events

We had a super busy Christmas, although not quite as hectic has usual. Things kicked off on Christmas eve eve. we headed over to Casey's parent's house for his family get together. We had turkey and all the fixins, opened gifts and played holiday family feud.
Christmas eve we went to my grandmother's (dad's mom) for an early dinner and opening gifts. Hudson, of course, got in some Cole bashing although I couldn't get in any good pictures.
Christmas morning Santa visited Hudson for the first time!  He got a play mat, music table and little playhouse.  He usually wants to eat breakfast right away but he played with his toys for a good while before we finally got him to eat.  Then it was lunch at my other grandmother's (mom's mom) and gift opening.  It was a little rough.  I guess there was too much excitement because Hud wouldn't go down for a nap and was pretty fussy over there.  We did dinner at my parent's and opened gifts over there.  We put Hudson down to bed early over there and he was so worn out that he barely even woke up for the transition to the car to home and from the car to his crib.

Christmas "Brunch"

I had our annual family brunch at my house Friday night.  We had great food and fellowship and did an ornament swap.  Everyone braved the freezing cold and rain to come out.  Thanks to everyone who came!  I had a great time.  It always feels like a kick-off to the holidays.

Jilly Moo's: A Blog Story

For those who don't know, I also co-write a blog, jillymoos.  My friend and I started it up after fielding questions from friends and family about where we shop for us as well as for our kids, how to find good deals, new trends, etc.  We decided to just put it out there for everyone to read.  We started it several months ago and it was very rough (and we are still learning as we go) but we only had it out there for our close friends and family.  We had a wonderful lady do a big redesign for us and a photographer friend took some pictures of us to put up and voila!  A beautiful, easy to navigate, useful blog (we hope).

We welcome feedback and would love your opinions on the new design, content or ideas on things you wanna hear about.  You can email us through the "Ask Jilly Moo's" icon on the left or post a comment below any post.  P lease show us your support and let us know that you are reading! Become a follower by going to the right-hand column and clicking the "follow" icon and simply sign up via yahoo, twitter or google.  You can also just click here.  It takes seconds.  We would love to hear from you!

We currently have a giveaway going.  Enter now to win two bracelets from Adornment By Design. Simply leave a comment and let us know your are interested.

you'd better watch out. . .

I finally made it to Santa today.  Hudson has been feeling better so we actually headed out yesterday but the Santa we tried was out until 5pm (at 12!. . . must be nice). So Casey met us at the mall today. Spud was all smiles in line and was even grinning at Santa... until we put him in his lap.  He looked at him like "who are you and where are my parents?" They got in a couple of cute pictures before the screaming started.

Making friends with the baby behind us in line.

Down & Out

Soldier down at the Wood house! Poor little Spud started out with a runny nose which has escalated to full-on cold.  We have been cooped up in the house with one fussy baby.  I was going to take him to see Santa this weekend but he was so fussy I knew he wouldn't have it.

I did get his tree up in his room.  I tried to get some pictures of him sitting in front of it but he wasn't having it.
He did "help" me wrap some presents.

Giving Thanks

Every year, the night before Thanksgiving, my sisters, cousins and co. head out for dinner and a movie. Just a little get-pumped-up-for-the-holidays thing.

It's always Chinese food (strange pick I know, but its tradition!) and usually whatever Christmas movie is out.  Sometimes its not so good (Christmas With the Kranks), sometimes its not a Christmas movie at all but its great (Walk the Line). This year it was The Blind Side.

Thanksgiving day it was Casey's grandparent's house first, then onto my grandmother's, then dinner at my other grandmother's.  Long day!
At least Hudson had a little entertainment with Cole.
Poor Cole.  I can already tell who the bully in this relationship is going to be.

The Playground

Sometimes its hard to find ways to keep my perpetual mover occupied. These day Hudson wants to go everywhere and do everything... but only for a few minutes at a time. Needless to say he can get bored hanging around the house all day. Sometimes it means running to the grocery store to pick up a couple of things, rolling in the laundry or going for a run through the neighborhood. Today it was his first trip to the little playground down the street. He loved to slide (with my help of course) and even more so loved to turn the steering wheel at the top of the playhouse.

Happy Birthday Casey!

Casey turned 28 on Tuesday the 10th (I'm a little late on the blog postings). He thought he was turning 27 and we both forgot it was his birthday altogether on the morning of. Doesn't speak so well of us and our memories. Can you imagine us at 80? We will both be wondering around aimlessly having forgotten where we put our glasses and our teeth.

Hoot Hoot!

Here is our little owl...
I actually ended up making Hud's costume... homemade is always better, right? I got the pattern from Martha Stewart (love Martha) and it was actually pretty easy to make.

It was a rainy day... not the best to be out and about in and we got off to a rocky start. Hudson was fussy in his costume and didn't want anything to do with his goggles. Maybe he just wanted to eat them.

He cheered up as the night went on and it ended up being a pretty good first Halloween. Of course we took lots of pics and you can see them all here.

Halloween Party

We love Halloween... maybe a little too much. In any event we get way too into our costumes. In the past, Casey has been a wolf dressed as a grandma (to my little red ridding hood), a lamb (I was Mary), a sumo wrestler and a flying monkey.

So this year he put his foot down and said he is picking his own costume and isn't going to be anything crazy or ridiculous. How that translates into poop in a toilet I will never know. He owes me big time.

Our Busy Weekend

I'm a little behind on my blogging so the big news comes first: Hudson is crawling! Ok, scooting is probably a more accurate word. He can get up on his knees pretty good but still can't quite get the arm thing down. He can use them enough to propel himself forward so I guess that's all that counts.

He has been pretty fussy the past week or so because he is getting another tooth (4th one for those keeping count). We had some screaming meltdowns in the car over the weekend. One of which happened on our way up to and back from the Dawsonville Fall Festival with Kayla and Kevin. We drove all of the way up there, it was freezing and almost closing time, we hit traffic on the way back and they were having to entertain Hudson because he was pitching a fit... they will probably never go anywhere with us again! Sorry guys.

Day At the Maze

I love fall because there is so much to do outdoors. Today we took Hudson to his very first corn maze with our friends, the Hills. The weather was perfect and Hudson did great. We took a hayride and he sat there the whole time staring the the tractor... such a boy. We did the kid's corn maze, watched Sophie ride pedal cars, and were introduced to deep fried candy bars (Casey gives them two thumbs up... I will stick to my caramel apple). We must have worn Hud out because he slept the whole way home.

Highchair

I'm not sure why of all of Hudson's milestones so far that it was the highchair that got to Casey. He just kept saying "he looks like such a big boy..." and "aw..." I'm just happy to have something that's easier to clean off than his vibrating infant seat. And as long as the baby is happy, Mama's happy.
