3rd Birthday

It sounds super cliche but I can't believe our little Hud is 3 years old.  Time really has flown.  I feel like he should still be sleeping in his bassinet by our bed.

We started the celebration at his school.  He shared a birthday with a girl in his class so I brought in pizza and her mom brought in cupcakes and we had a little Birthday/St. Patrick's Day party.
Then came the party...
Hudson wanted a Curious George party.  It's all about Curious George for him.  The boys made their own pizzas and played outside while the pizzas were cooking.
He tore through the presents but the garbage truck stole the show.

On his actual birthday we did church, gave him our gift (a fishing pole) and had a birthday dinner at my parent's house.
We can't wait to see what year three holds for our little man!  He is such entertainment for us already and just gets more and more fun.

3 Year Old Hudson Loves:
pizza, Curious George, trains (the real kind and the toy kind),
wearing rain boots, hugging and kissing his sister, helping his
mama cook & bake, reading, riding his plasma car, playing Old Maid,
fishing, helping his daddy work in the garage or outside, watching
lawn mowers, playing outside.

Vegas Baby!

Casey has been wanting to go to Vegas for forever.  I have had it in my head that I would take him there for his 30th birthday for about a year and a half.  Maybe more.  I've been working extra days to pay for it and keeping it a secret from him since he turned 29 last year.
I've been so excited to see his reaction. I booked the hotel, flight, a show, restaurant, had our bags packed and everything.  He thought we were spending the weekend at his parent's cabin in the mountains.  Hee hee.

Thursday morning we had waffles in bed with Hudson.
And then I told Casey we were going on a surprise outing, blindfolded him and set off for the airport.
We got to the park 'n ride and he saw our suitcases sitting out and saw where we were.  He asked what was going on and where we were going.  I told him and he couldn't believe it.  He was so pumped up.
We had a great time staying at The Cosmopolitan, the newest hotel right on the strip.
In the hotel lobby checking in.

At Paris hotel after eating breakfast.  It was made to look like the streets of Paris: blue skies and all.
Lost inside Caesars Palace.  We swore not to go back inside after getting lost for 45 minutes.  It was HUGE.
Chandelier bar inside our hotel.  Amazing.
Getting our eat on at the buffet.  Delicious!

We saw Cirque Du Soleil's "O" at The Belligio Friday night, ate a ton, Casey played some blackjack and I got a massage at the hotel spa.  We had such a relaxing and fun weekend but it was nice to come home to the kids.

30

Last Sunday I hit my scary age:  the big 3-0.  I always dreaded turning 30 but it just kinda went by... no big deal.  I survived.
The awesome sign that my sisters made for me as part of my party decor.

I thought that Casey didn't have anything planned so I went out to one of my favorite restaurants Friday night.
But Casey surprised me with a party the next night.  This whole time he went on like he didn't have anything planned and I gave him such a hard time about it (hello guilt).  We headed "out to dinner" and stopped by my parent's house to drop Hud off to stay there while we were out (or so I thought) and was greeted with family, friends, and BBQ (really the thing a pregnant lady loves the most).  Casey asked me what I was thinking when we walked in and I told him I literally don't think a thought was in my head.  I was so surprised.  I'm probably the worst person to surprise because I don't think I gave any kind of reaction but I was just in total shock.

On my actual birthday we did church, my gift (a brand new camera) and dinner at my parents.

Hudson's Second Birthday (Cont.)

Ever since we were kids our family's birthday tradition has been for my mom to make the birthday boy/girl's favorite or requested meal.  We have kept the tradition alive throughout the years and this Sunday night we had Hudson's "requested" meal:  spaghetti and strawberry cake.  Plus Kayla and Kevin weren't able to make it to his party on his actual birthday so they gave him his present from them (A wheelbarrow, rake, and shovel.  A home-run).
In an attempt to blow out his candle he spit at it.  We need to work on that.
Patiently waiting for Kayla to bring his present to him.
And trying to climb into his wheelbarrow.  Which he continues to do even after falling over in it today.

2 Year Birthday Party

Attempting to stay low-key this year we kept Hudson's birthday party a family affair, just having our parents and siblings over.  We may have gone a little overboard.  But it's still easier than having a big blowout.  I had asked the birthday boy what kind of party he wanted and he told me Cookie Monster so we ran with that theme.
He was so excited for his "happy birthday party" and wanted to eat his cupcakes as soon as he saw them.
I should have just ordered pizza.
The favorite present was the lawn mower (big surprise).  He opened it first and didn't want to open anything else after that.  Casey had to take over.
Hudson's hat that he refuses to wear and the adorable cow that Julie and Jess got him.
