Destin

This past week we were in Destin FL at Casey's broker's condo, which they were so kind to lend out to us.  We had a great time, although it went by way too fast.
Hud wasn't so into the ocean.
But he loved playing in the sand.
And the pool.
We had never been to the beach this early in the year and we were a little surprised at how chilly it still was.  It was pretty windy and cool in the mornings and evenings but perfect in the afternoons.
I'm saving you from having to see prego bathing suit photos.  You don't want to see that.  Trust me.  You can thank me later.

Santa Rosa Beach

We took Hud on his second beach trip this past week.  Honestly, the first day there I was ready to pull my hair out and wanted to turn around and come back home.  He was a screamer most of the way down and hardly slept at all, which I was banking on as being what would occupy him for most of the time.  So he was wearing on my patients from the beginning.  We set the pack 'n play up in our bedroom for him to sleep in so naturally he was up crying half of the night wanting me to get him out.  Any sound we made woke him up.  Cut to the next day and we moved his pack 'n play into our bathroom and he didn't give us any other trouble after that.  It seems like making your child sleep in the bathroom would be considered some form of child abuse.  Sometimes you've gotta do what ya gotta do.  We aren't ashamed.  We got two sunny days and the others were cloudy and rainy all day long.

I'm finished complaining now.

He really did do fine.  He is walking so good now so he was everywhere!  He even said "right back" and took off walking way down the beach by himself.  Well not by himself...Casey was following...we really aren't coming off as great parents here are we?  We rented a house that had it's own pool and was a very short walk to the beach so it worked out perfect for us.  Hudson LOVED to play in the sand and sit right where the waves would come up on him.  He wasn't even bothered when the waves would splash up on his head.
My oldest child, playing in the sand too.

Waiting to see Eclipse.

Luckily we didn't have any problems with oil.  No signs of it at all.  Well, there were some workers combing the beach everyday but we never could figure out what they were doing.

The Beach

We took Hud on his first trip to the beach this past week. I was honestly very worried as to how he would do. Its a long drive to Ormond Beach (6 hours when Casey and I make the trip alone, 10 hours with 2 babies in tow for the record) so the actual ride down there was my first big concern. As is normally the case, Hud proved me wrong and did an awesome job on the ride down. In fact we had a great week. For the most part he hardly made a peep at any of the restaurants we ate at, he loved the pool and was pretty go-with-the-flow the whole week. I have to say a huge thanks to his Papa and Lolly (my parents) who not only let us shack up with them but also stayed inside most of the time when it was nap time so Casey and I could enjoy some much needed r & r. A pretty big group of us went (around 20) to the same place that we have gone for years and that I used to go to as a kid. I'm calling it a huge success over all and a great time. Much fun was had by all.

Same beach this year

Totally taking over poor little Cole's tent
