Steps

Well, i want to say that Hudson has started walking....

but not so much.

Thursday he started taking like one step (more like half of a step) and then falling.  I actually tend to think that he is really just falling forward but I guess us moms like to think positively by believing that our children are doing things before they are actually doing them.  Like how sometimes I think he is saying "mama" but again...

not so much.  Pardon the drool and snot.  He's a little bit of a mess these days.

The Party

Saturday was the big day:  party time!  

It was the perfect whether for it.  We just propped the back door open and the kids were running around in the backyard playing.  We had lots of friends and family over.  Hudson had a little cold or allergies or something so he was in a little bit of a mood - especially since i had to wake him up from his nap.  He warmed up pretty quick though.  He ate some snacks and tore into his cake:  I mean foot in it, frosting in his eyelashes, had to be given a bath afterward, tore into it.  

This one cracks me up.  It looks like he is thinking:  'what are you doing to my cake?!?'

Present opening went ok - in hindsight I would have just let him open them after everyone left but what are you gonna do?  Live and learn.  It was pretty much everyone watching me open his presents and you know how much I love being the center of attention (sarcasm).

I really think that he just loved being outside.  He had some of his toys outside and was playing with them for a long time.

My poor mom was sick and the doctor told her she couldn't come!  She did stop by toward the end (mask and all).

I know I've posted 12,000 pictures but I just have to point this out because i think its the funniest thing and just sooo the opposite of Hud.  Every time you held a camera up to Cole, he would smile.  He would be staring off or playing or just sitting all serious then he would see the camera and start cheesing.  It was hilarious.

1 Year Old!

Today was the day! the big 1! i can't believe that one year ago he was just a tiny, new thing...

And now he is a little man (kind-of).  I was just holding him (ok - I was near tears) before I laid him down to sleep tonight thinking back over the last year and wondering what the next year is going to be like.  How much bigger will he be?  What will he be doing?

Anyway, enough sap.  Obviously lil' guy doesn't know what the heck is going on so we were low key today.  The procrastinator in me was shining through today as we didn't even have his present yet so we made a trip down to good ol' toys r us to pick it up.  He loved it!

Like our sad vegetable garden?  The rosemary is all that's left.

I made his favorite dinner (spaghetti) and he had his favorite desert (bananas) and that was just about the jest of it.  Get ready for the big party coming up this Saturday.

He really was happier than he looks.

Due Date!

As Casey pointed out to me this morning, one year ago today was my due date for our little spud.  It's just crazy how much can change in a year.  All I can think about today is that i was HUGE and miserable this time last year (and extremely nervous).  I was just sitting around, waiting for something to happen.  Nothing did as most know I had to be induced on the 18th.  It has made me a little sentimental today.  There is another thing that has changed: since when am I sentimental?!?  We can't imagine our lives without Hud and can't remember what we used to do with our spare time (oh yeah, watch more TV and get more sleep).  We wouldn't trade it for anything though and have been so blessed by our little man. 

I would post a picture of me this time last year but looking back on the pictures, I was quite scary large.  You shouldn't have to be subjected to that. 

1 Year Pics

I can't believe that next week little Turk will be turning 1!  Today we took him to the wonderful Alicia Beasley for some pictures.  First off, in true form, I have been stressed about what he was going to wear for today.  I even went and bought another outfit last minute this morning.  If I would have had it together I would have taken some pictures of him in his outfits but guess what:  I didn't.  So no pics.

The photo session was a little rough.  Lil guy is cutting another tooth (it must be a doozie because he as been a p-i-l-l!!!) so he wasn't in top form but we did get some smiles between him wining and chewing on his fingers.   Alicia had a cake there for him to tear into and boy did he!  We got to take what was left home with us.

We kept finding remnants of blue icing the rest of the day.  

We hit Chick-Fil-A afterward and Hud had his first taste of chicken salad and ice dream. 

I thought he would be on a ginormous sugar high afterward but he slept for 2 1/2 hrs when we got home.

"Handy Man"

Oh yeah.  I forgot to talk about by bad week last week.  Particularly Monday.  Let me start by saying that a couple of weeks ago we heard a noise coming from our hallway downstairs that Casey thought sounded like water dripping.  We never could figure out where it was coming from so we forgot about it.  Cut to the next Monday and Casey notices a huge seam running down our stairway wall and wood bubbled up at the foot of the stairs.  Yes...we had a leak.  And guess what it was caused by?  My handy man!  Casey put this trim up about a year ago and turns out he hit a pipe.

So now we have this huge hole in our wall.  Handy man?  I don't think so (Just kidding honey!  Don't stop with your projects!).

  Oh wait.  It gets better.  On my way down the stairs to look at the damage, I slipped and fell while holding Hud.  Hud is fine.  I have a ginormous bruise on my arm and had back problems for about a week.  Classic klutz.  I'm hoping this week is better...
